What is Seen Reading?
- I see you reading.
- I remember what page you’re on in the book.
- I head to the bookstore, and make a note of the text.
- I let my imagination rip.
- Readers become celebrities.
- People get giddy and buy more books.
Suggested use of Seen Reading podcast:
The Seen Reading podcast is me reading each day’s entry. I highly recommend you listen to it while riding the subway or bus. I cannot, however, condone you listening to it while riding a bike. This isn’t Seen Reading Schmucked, after all.
Why do you do this?
Readers are cool. Authors work hard. Publishers take chances. And you all deserve to be seen!
“Will you review my book?”
Sightings must take place in the wild. Part of the thrill for me is encountering readers in their natural habitats.

About Julie
Julie Wilson is the creator and author of the literary voyeurism blog, Seen Reading. She has appeared on CBC Radio’s “Here and Now” to discuss the reading habits of Torontonians. She partners with CBC’s “Canada Reads” each year to sleuth out sightings for each of the contest’s contenders.
Julie’s short fiction has appeared in Taddle Creek, Maisonneuve, and at Joyland.ca.
Current projects include a quiet novel about one small community coping with the deaths of two young adults, and the international mourning of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. Also in progress, a YA novel about a young lesbian who vanishes to far away places in the empty cars of a train that passes through her tiny backyard once a week.
